Coach RJ Lester enters his first season as the head coach for both Men's and Women's golf in 2022-2023. Before his hire at USW, he spent time at Seminole ISD, where he ran the junior high golf program for three years and coached football and basketball. Lester then became the high school golf assistant after his junior high-level stint. While at Seminole ISD, he coached the state qualifying girls' team in 2017 and a state boys' qualifier in 2017 and 2019. Following that, Coach Lester was hired as the Head Girls Golf Coach at Andrews ISD, where his team compiled nine team wins. Lester coached a district runner-up, district champion, regional runner-up, and regional champion. His team also placed 2nd in the state in 2021. Lester then moved to Denver ISD, where his girls' team won district for the 2nd time in a row and had regional qualifiers for both the boys' and girls' programs.Â

Coach Lester graduated from Flatonia, HS, in 2005. While there, he was a three-time district champion, four-time regional qualifier, two-time regional champion, two-time state qualifier, and member of the all-state team junior and senior year. Following high school, Lester attended the University of the Southwest and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. As a golf team member, he was a part of five team wins and six top 10 finishes, assisting the program in reaching the highest ranking in school history at 16th in the nation.Â
