HOBBS, N.M. – For the past week the weather across Lea County and Hobbs has been wet, sloppy, overcast and generally cold. Prior to the start of the men's soccer game versus Texas A&M Texarkana the sun finally broke through the clouds and at the same time, the USW offense responded in kind.
After allowing an early first-half goal, USW rallied to score three unanswered goals and topped the Eagles 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action played at Hobbs High School.

Robert Ssejjemba said following the match. "They showed a lot of character coming from a goal down to win. We need this confidence as we prepare for a tough road trip this weekend."
Junior
Fernando Sanchez was in the right place at the right time and buried home a deflection off a penalty kick outside of the penalty box and the match went into halftime tied at 1-1.
Freshman
Goitom Kidane scored the game-winning goal at 72:54 to push the Mustangs in front.
Senior
Robel Yemane added an insurance goal at 88:05 and USW (4-3-1, 1-1 RRAC) closed out TAMUT (3-7, 0-2 RRAC).
The Mustangs controlled the tempo throughout and outshot the Eagles 14-5, including 9-3 margin in the first half.
Sophomore
Allan Navarro added a match-high four shots, while junior
Jack Laurie recorded three shots, two of which were on the frame.
The Mustangs play Thursday, Oct. 5 at University of Saint Thomas and Saturday, Oct. 7 at University of Houston-Victoria.
