HOBBS, N.M. – Freshman Desiree Morgas netted a hat trick and the University of the Southwest rolled past LSU-Shreveport 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action at Bob Moran Soccer Field.

"I'm proud of the girls. They came out strong and showed early they were the better team," USW head coach Joshua Smith said. "We only allowed one scoring chance and it was off a set piece. Des had another big game for us and it was great seeing Kristina (Contratto) and Savannah (Villegas) get one. It was also a great way to send out our seniors as (Nicole) Daigle scored and Alexis (Gipson) helped secure the shutout."

The beginning of the match was slow, but play started to heat up 15 minutes into the game. Morgas scored a pair goals in the 30-minute mark to quickly give USW a 2-0 lead.

Moments later Villegas then scored and Morgas added her third goal to complete the hat trick. Daigle then scored in three minutes to go and the Lady Mustangs went into halftime with a commanding 5-0 lead.

Contratto added a pair of goals in the second half.

USW held LSUS (4-8-2, 2-6) to six shots, while the Mustangs added 36 shots.

The Lady Mustangs (11-3, 5-3 RRAC) travel to Jarvis Christian and Texas College next week to closeout conference play. USW currently sits in sixth place in the conference standings and look solidify a berth in the conference tournament.
