Ron'Quis Lewis scored a game-high 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds, but NCAA Division II New Mexico Highlands defeated University of the Southwest 77-67 in an exhibition Tuesday evening at the Maddox Student Life Center.
Three Mustangs scored in double figures. Along with Lewis, senior
Marcelious Green scored 16 points and hauled in eight rebounds, while Senior
Jeffrey Long added 13 points and was 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
As a team USW shot 40 percent (25-of-62) from the floor, while the Cowboys hit 48 percent (30-of-67) of their shots.
USW dominated in the paint and outrebounded Highlands by a 44-38 margin.
The Mustangs return to action this weekend at the USAO Classic.
