Jaylan Price-Johnson scored a team-high nine points and four rebounds, but Northern New Mexico defeated University of the Southwest women's basketball 86-51 in non-conference action Wednesday evening at the Maddox Student Life Center.
The first half was evenly matched and the Eagles went into the break with a 39-31 lead.
NNM outscored USW 23-8 in the third quarter and the Mustangs were left playing catch-up the rest of the way.
Sophomore guard
Naomi Solsberry also added nine points and was 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. Freshman
Jasmine Stansell came off the bench scored eight points to go along with four rebounds and a block.
Junior
Catarina Garcia helped out with five points and six boards.
As a team, the Mustangs shot 33 percent (21-of-62) from the field, however, USW hit 40 percent (12-of-30) of its shots in the first half.
USW returns to the court Thursday at NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian.
