ALEXANDRIA, La. -- LSU Alexandria outscored University of the Southwest 24-12 in the fourth quarter and upended the Mustangs 75-62 in Red River Athletic Conference action Saturday.

Aaliyah Wheatfall scored 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the field, while sophomore
Mykal Thomas came off the bench and added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Junior
Desiree Garza helped out with 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.

As a team the Mustangs (1-8, 0-2 RRAC) shot 41 percent (28-of-67) from the field, while LSUA (2-2, 2-0 RRAC) converted 36 percent (28-of-77) of their shots.

USW did a good job of distributing the basketball and finished with 19 assists, with juniors
Catarina Garcia and
Aaliyah Austin leading the way with six a piece.

The Mustangs return home next weekend and play host to Texas College and St. Thomas – Houston at the Maddox Student Life Center.
