DALLAS, Texas – Junior
Maria Reynolds scored a pair of goals and the University of the Southwest women's soccer team eased past Paul Quinn College 3-0 and remain perfect with a 6-0 record.
"I was proud of how the girls took the coaching points and applied them," USW head women's soccer coach
Joshua Smith said. "We controlled the whole match and were lucky to leave with minimal injury."
USW scored its first goal of the match at the 38-minute mark.
Adriana Guzman received a pass from
Noemi Carrillo and the Lady Mustangs went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Reynolds then scored two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half and put the contest out of reach.
"This was a strange game in many ways. Every time we touched the ball it seemed we were fouled whether it was called or not," added Smith. "It took us a while to find a rhythm, but to face the adversity was good for our girls."
USW now takes a week off before its next game.
"We have a week and a half now to rest up and continue conference play," Smith said. "I'm proud of the girls so and know they will be ready at whatever comes our way."
