HOBBS, N.M. – University of the Southwest women's basketball overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to tie the game in the third quarter, however, Paul Quinn outscored the Mustangs 23-14 in the fourth quarter and defeated USW 69-59 Thursday evening.
Paul Quinn started fast and raced out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead. The Mustangs countered with 14-12 second quarter and the Tigers went into halftime with a 34-20 lead.
USW responded in the third quarter outscored PQC 25-12 and briefly took the lead.

Catarina Garcia topped the Mustangs with 16 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the floor. She also handed out a game-high six assists. Junior
Desiree Garza added 13 points and was 3-for-5 from three-point range.

USW has a rare weekend off and returns to the hardwood Thursday, January 25 against LSU Shreveport. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m. and the Maddox Student Life Center.
