HOBBS, N.M. – Junior Catarina Garcia scored a team-high 15 points and the University of the Southwest women's basketball team powered past Huston-Tillotson 79-64 Thursday evening in Red River Athletic Conference at the Maddox Student Life Center.
 
USW (4-18, 3-11 RRAC) jumped on the Lady Rams early and opened up a 20-9 first quarter lead and went into halftime with a commanding 42-22 advantage.
 
The Mustangs would lead by as many as 23 points in the third quarter and closed out HT (11-7, 11-3 RRAC) in the fourth quarter.
 
True freshman Jasmine Stansell helped out with 14 points, while junior Aaliyah Austin also contributed 14 points.
 
Aaliyah Wheatfall helped out with 10 points.
 
Junior Desiree Garza scored nine points and sophomore Naomi Solsberry added six points.
 
The Mustangs close out the home portion of its schedule Saturday evening against No. 18 Our Lady of the Lake.
