SHREVEPORT, LA---The USW Men's Soccer program took to the road on Thursday afternoon for a RRAC matchup with LSU-Shreveport. The Mustangs entered the match 3-10 on the season with a 3-4 record in conference. The Mustangs dropped the match on Thursday by the score of 3-0.
"Coming to LSU-S I knew this was going to be one of the toughest team that we played. I respect LSU-S a lot because they are a top program in our conference. They showed it yesterday when we played. They moved the ball around well but we played until the end." added Head Coach Edgar Negrete after the match Thursday.
The Mustangs were unable to get anything going offensively as they manged only 6 shots in the match. LSU-S was able to score a goal early in the 1st half and never looked back. The Pilots would add two more goals in the 2nd half to solidify their lead.
The Mustangs have a lot to play for on Saturday with a potential postseason berth at hand. "We are now approaching the last game of the season." said Head Coach Edgar Negrete. " This game is important. It's all in or nothing. We are sitting in 6th place right now. However here is the scenario. The good news is that if we win we and Huston-Tillotson losses, we will be playing at home and hosting the first game of playoffs. If we lose we have to hope that Texarkana and Texas College tie. If we tie on Saturday's game we will be traveling on the road to play first game of the tournament playoff. All we have to do is the care of Saturday's game and we will be playing at home. That just shows how tight our conference is. We have to get the job done this Saturday. This will be the biggest game of the year for us. We still have hope and we have to take advantage of it. The stage is set up for us to take it."
