LUBBOCK, TX--- On a rainy day for the entire southeast part of New Mexico and west Texas, the Mustang Cross Country program made the short drive over to Lubbock, TX to compete in the 2019 Texas Tech Open. The races were held at the Lubbock Christian Golf Course and featured 2 male and 4 female racers competing for USW.
"Both groups ran well this past weekend at the Texas Tech Open. It was a rainy and muddy event which made for tough races for the men and women. The course is beautiful and challenging, but the kids had a lot of fun! Freshman
Cody Smith was our 1st finisher on the Men's side running in his 1st ever 8K race. Senior Allie Adams lead the Mustang Women with a huge season best 5K run. We are very excited about this season!" said Head Coach

Freshman
Cody Smith finished 52nd overall out of 102 racers with a time of 29:38.50. Senior
Sam Suarez finished with a time of 38:06.90.
On the Women's side of things,
Alexandria Adams finished in 75th place out of 111 racers with a final time of 22:07.50 in the 5K.
Edit Herrera finished shortly after her with a time of 22:16.50.
Harlee Garner was the next Lady Mustang to cross the finish line with a time of 25:47.30.
Jakeline Blea was the final racer for the Mustangs who finishd with a time of 29:42.50.
The Cross Country team competes in the NMJC Invite this Friday right here in Hobbs.
