The University of the Southwest Men's and Women's cross-country teams traveled to Irving, TX to participate in the University of Dallas Invitational on Saturday. This was the first meet of the season for USW. The Men finished second and the women finished third of the three schools at the meet.
Head Coach
Tony Skiles, regarding the meet, said "The course was a hard course, this will be the hardest one we run all year. They did a great job for it to be their first college meet."
The Men were led by Freshman
Guadalupe Garcia who finished second with a time of 17:37.1 in the 5k. Freshman
Armando Hernandez finished 6
th with a time of 18:25.7. Fellow Freshman,
Peter Lucio, finished 8
thwith a time of 18:48.4.
The Women were led by Freshman
Samantha Jasso who finished third with a time of 22:28.1 in the 5k. Her Sister,
Genevieve Jasso, finished 9
th with a time of 24:47.4.
Both teams' next meet will be on September 24
th at New Mexico Junior College, and they look to build off of a solid showing in their first meet.
