The University of the Southwest cross-country teams participated in their first meet this past weekend. They participated in the University of Dallas Invitational in Irving, Texas. Based off the individual performances on the weekend, they took home both the RRAC men's and women's cross-country runner of the week award.
The Men's award went to
Guadalupe Garcia, who finished second in the 5k with a time of 17:37. Garcia is a freshman from Alice, TX, and attended Agua Dulce HS. He is off to a pretty impressive start to his college XC career.
The Women's award went to
Samantha Jasso, who finished the 5k in third place with a time of 22:28. Jasso is a Freshman from Andrews, TX, and attended Andrews HS. Another impressive opening meet performance for a true freshman.
These two talented freshmen will look to build off these strong performances in their next meet, which will take place at New Mexico Junior College on September 24
th.
