Hobbs- After a long Labor Day weekend the 1-0 women's soccer team played Wednesday, September 4 versus the 1-0 Wayland Baptist Pioneers.  

Your USW lady mustangs opened the scoring early into the contest. In the 4th minute Jayden Duran was able to find the back of the net for the first of many goals that the lady mustangs put up in this contest. The next goal did not come long after when Rozlyn Ramsey scored putting the mustangs 2-0 early in the match and the lady mustangs never looked back from there.  

With 2 more goals from Arlette Montanez and a goal from Maya Sanchez the lady mustangs took a commanding 5-0 lead into halftime. Coming out of halftime Wayland got on the board in what would be their only goal of the contest making the score 5-1 but that did not slow down this offensive that was clicking on all cylinders. Maya Sanchez was able to score two more goals in the second half, pushing the Mustangs' lead even further to bring home the healthy win of 7-1 and taking her total goal count to 3 on the day.  

"I thought we moved the ball really well today and from that movement we were able to relax and generate some offense today" head coach Edrian Negrete said about today's win over Wayland.  

The lady mustangs look to advance 3-0 in their next match against New Mexico Highlands this Saturday at 1:00 PM in Hobbs.
