VICTORIA, Texas -- The University of the Southwest men's soccer team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to A&M–Victoria on Saturday afternoon at The Cage.
The Mustangs (2-5-2, 1-3-1 RRAC) held their own early, responding quickly after the Jaguars opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Jose Attong netted an unassisted equalizer just four minutes later, leveling the match at 1-1.
Despite the strong start, A&M–Victoria (7-5-1, 3-2-1 RRAC) pulled away in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals. Mustang goalkeeper Stephen Chairez made four saves on the day, facing a relentless 19-shot attack from the Jaguars.
Southwest managed just two shots in the match, with Attong's goal being the lone shot on target.Â
The Mustangs will look to bounce back as they return home for a four-game homestand.
