VICTORIA, Texas — The University of the Southwest women's soccer team showed fight in the second half, but a strong A&M–Victoria squad pulled away for a 4-1 win on Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference play at The Cage.
Senior Jadyn Duran gave the Mustangs (1-10-1, 1-4-1 RRAC) a lift with her first goal of the season in the 60th minute, trimming the deficit to 3-1. Despite the momentum, the Jaguars added a late goal to seal the match.
Goalkeeper Elena Moya was a bright spot for Southwest, making eight saves on 12 shots on goal. Joanna Estrada also contributed with a shot on target, as the Mustangs totaled four shots in the match.
Southwest will look to build on its second-half performance as it prepares for its next four-game homestand.
