PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The University of the Southwest women's basketball team earned a gritty 57-52 overtime win against Nelson University, Arizona, on Friday evening in Phoenix, Arizona.

Southwest opened the game with an explosive first quarter, shooting 81.3% from the field to take a 32-26 lead. After a defensive stalemate in the second quarter, the Mustangs regrouped in the third and held firm in overtime to close out the victory.

Southwest's top performers for the night were led by Seniya Wilson with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists, Michaela Ray with 12 points and five rebounds and Karinna Ortiz with nine points and two rebounds.
