SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Southwest women's basketball team battled hard but came up short against Texas A&M–San Antonio on Saturday afternoon, falling 92-46 in Red River Athletic Conference play.

The Mustangs opened the game with energy, shooting 50% from the field in the first quarter and keeping the score close at 18-16. Guard Seniya Wilson led the charge early and finished with a game-high 21 points, going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line while adding six rebounds and three assists.

Michaela Ray provided a spark from beyond the arc, knocking down four three-pointers on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Despite their efforts, Southwest struggled to maintain offensive rhythm after the first period, shooting just 24.6% from the field for the game.

Defensively, the Mustangs worked to contain TAMUSA's balanced attack but faced challenges in transition and the paint. The Jaguars capitalized on turnovers, scoring 32 points off Southwest miscues, and dominated inside with 50 points in the paint.

Southwest showed resilience on the boards, pulling down 42 rebounds, including 11 offensive, but couldn't convert second-chance opportunities consistently. Karinna Ortiz chipped in three points and four rebounds, while Alliah Scallion added four points and four boards.

The Mustangs will look to regroup and build on the positives as they return home for their next conference matchup.
