Southwest Splits Doubleheader with Houston-Victoria, Shows Fight in Both Games

Seminole, TX — The Southwest Lady Mustangs displayed resilience and firepower during Friday's doubleheader against Houston-Victoria, dropping the opener 5–3 but bouncing back for a thrilling 4–3 victory in game two. The win marks Southwest's first conference victory of the season.

Game 1 Recap:

Southwest took the early lead in the first inning thanks to a two-out RBI single by L. Stouder, driving home K. Raulston, who doubled to extend the inning. The Mustangs regained the lead briefly in the third on a sacrifice fly by Y. Rodriduez, scoring M. Andres after a leadoff triple.

However, Houston-Victoria responded with a burst of offense, plating two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. A. Snedeker led the charge for the Jaguars, collecting two hits including a solo home run in the fifth. F. Hoover added a triple and sacrifice fly, providing key insurance runs.

Southwest's D. Garces made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh with a pinch-hit solo homer, but it wasn't enough to close the gap. Despite a solid start from A. Belen, who struck out six, the Mustangs fell 5–3.
