HOBBS, N.M. — The University of the Southwest women's golf team concluded the second and final round of the NMJC Invitational on Tuesday at the Rockwind Community Links Golf Course. Competing against a talented field of opponents, the Mustangs showed determination and steady improvement throughout the day.
Southwest's A team finished the event with a two‑day total of 736, led by Sophia Vidal, who posted a 90 in the final round. Vidal delivered one of the team's most composed performances, highlighted by three key pars on the front nine. Lucy Garza followed with a 94, showing resilience with a stronger back nine. Gabrielle Perez and Katelynn Morris each carded 95, finding momentum late in their rounds, while Stephanie Smith added a 98 to complete the team's scoring.
The Lady Mustangs' B team also delivered competitive stretches during the final round, closing with a total of 761. Jada Dickson paced the group with a 92, staying consistent from day one. Gabriella Honesto posted a 96 with steady play throughout the day, and Sarah Monaghan contributed a 97, including strong scoring on the par‑3s. Aiyana Munoz recorded a 101, earning a birdie early on, while Kylie Bradford added a 105.
Southwest will head to the Schreiner Invite on March 2 to continue its early Spring season.
