Windcrest, TX---The USW Cross Country program is competing in the 2019 RRAC Cross Country Championships this Friday in Windcrest, TX. The event is being held at the Windcrest Golf Club, hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University. The Women's 5K race will begin at 8:30 AM CST. The Men's 8K race will begin at 9:30 AM CST. 

The Lady Mustangs are looking to defend their 2018 Championship title. Last year the Lady Mustangs won the team event with 35 points. Alisae Gomez finished 3rd overall last year and Edit Herrera finished in 5th. However this year, both these runners will not be running due to injury. Head Coach Jessica Becker is still confident however that both teams will be in contention for another championship. " It's championship season for Mustang Cross Country. We have been training hard and are very excited to see what the squads can put together on the course Friday in San Antonio. We have been battling some injuries with some of our key runners so we will have different people stepping into roles to help the team compete at the highest level. We are expecting solid races from our seniors Babiker Babiker and Sam Suarez on the men's side along with freshman standout Cody Smith. Should be fun to watch all of the men compete. For the women,senior leader, Allie Adams looks to lead the Mustangs with hopes of making it back to nationals for her final season! We have a lot of young talent so we will see what these Mustangs can do on this fast course"

Course Site: Windcrest Golf Club at 8600 Midcrown in Windcrest, Texas (site of the 2015, 2016, and 2018 RRAC Cross Country Championships).

Course: Mostly grass with a few concrete cart crossings. Course marking will be in compliance with RRAC cross country course policies and guidelines.

Race Officiating: The races will be started and officiated by Preston Johnson from USATF South Central.

Participating Women's Teams: Jarvis Christian, Our Lady of the Lake, Paul Quinn, Southwest, Texas College. 

Participating Men's Teams: Huston-Tillotson, Jarvis Christian, Our Lady of the Lake, Paul Quinn, Southwest, Texas College.
