The University of the Southwest Men's and Women's golf teams traveled to Snyder, Texas this past weekend to compete in two separate events. The men competed in a Dual with Western Texas College on Thursday where the two teams competed against each other. The Women competed in the Westerner Invitational which consisted of players from five schools.

Men:Â The USW Men's Team played well, but fell short of Western Texas College. The Mustangs were led by
Dayton Price who shot under par 69. Dayton played very well despite some rough breaks throughout the round. Overall the Men's Team played well, shooting a season-low 291. Other Mustang scores included
Hayden Underhill and
Mauricio Sanchez shooting 73's.
Justin Pastiney and
Tiago Sousa both shot 76's for the Mustangs.Â

After the round, Head Coach
Tyler James said "The Men's Team is getting better and better as the season winds down. They are starting to find their games, and learning from each and every round they play."

Women:Â The Lady Mustangs played in the Westerner Invitational this past weekend, finishing 4th out of 4 teams in a very tough field which included 2 top 10 Junior College programs and a D2 program.Â
Taylor Phillips led the way shooting a 90 on Day one and a79 on day two.
Jasmin Collum shot an 86 on day one and a 93 on day two.
Karisa Raines put up a 99 on day one and a 97 on day two.
Halie Cruz put together a 114 on day one and a 113 on day two.Â

Regarding the performance, Coach James said "​I was very proud of how the girls fought despite the challenging winds that occurred on day 2 and a tough field."

That concludes the fall schedule for the Lady Mustangs as they turn their focus toward the Spring schedule. The Men will be competing in the Ted and Jodi Hogan Intercollegiate this Friday in Odessa, TX as their final event of the Fall.
