BLANCHARD, Okla. -- The University of the Southwest Men's Golf team wrapped up day one of the Battle at Winter Creek, sitting in fifth-place on Monday at the Winter Creek GCC.
The Mustangs posted a team score of 22-over-par over two rounds, outperforming SW Christian, Our Lady of the Lake, Central Christian and Seminole State (OK). Tournament leaders included Oklahoma City (-9), USAO (-4) and Texas Wesleyan (-1).
Freshman
Jorge Molinar III led the Mustangs with a composed round of 2-over-par, navigating the course with consistency.
Jayden Romig followed with a 5-over-par, contributing solid play across both the front and back nine.
Jesse Valdez and
Kennedy Bailey-Borges added rounds of 7-over-par and 8-over-par, respectively, on a challenging back nine.
Konner Iglehart rounded out the lineup with a 13-over-par on the day, battling through tough stretches and finishing strong.
Tomorrow the Mustangs will close out the final 18 holes of the Battle at Winter Creek and look to finish round three strong.
