Hobbs, N.M. -- The University of the Southwest men's golf team delivered a strong performance at Rockwind Community Links GC on Tuesday to close out the final round of Battling in the Desert, securing a third-place finish in a competitive field of 15.
The Mustangs posted a final team score of 15 over par, trailing only Oklahoma City (-16) and Texas Wesleyan (-7). Southwest held strong across all three rounds, keeping a consistent effort from all five golfers.
Freshman
Jorge Molinar III led the Mustangs individually, finishing tied for 10th with a 1-over-par overall score. Molinar was able to finish strong, jumping up six spots from Monday after a steady start.
Konner Iglehart and
Kennedy Bailey-Borges followed suit, both tying for 22nd, carding a six-over-par overall.
Jesse Valdez and
Jayden Romig rounded out the lineup at 28th (+7) and 30th (+8), respectively.
The Mustangs will head to Battle at Winter Creek on October 15-16 for their final tournament of the fall season.
