Hobbs, N.M. -- The Southwest men's golf team showcased a consistent performance over two competitive rounds at Rockwind Community Links Golf Course on Monday, with standout performances across the roster sitting in fourth place to head into the final round.
Leading the way was
Jayden Romig seated in 10th, who posted a round one even-par 72, followed by one-under-par 71 for round two. With an eagle on hole four in round two with five birdies and four birdies in round one, Romig's steady play anchored the team and set the tone for a strong setting.
Kennedy Bailey-Borges and
Jorge Molinar III each carded 73 (+1) in round two after both carding a 72 (E) in round one. Both Bailey-Borges and Molinar found their own holes to capitalize on, with hole 16 being a birdie for both of them in round two.
Konner Iglehart finished strong, carding a 73 (+1) in round two after a previous 74 (+2), and
Jesse Valdez also showed improvement in round two with a 73 (+1) after a 75 (+3) in round one.
Southwest Group B showcased the improvement of multiple Mustang players from round one to round two.
The Mustangs will head into the final round of Battling in the Desert on Tuesday, October 7, with 18 more holes to go.
