Lady Mustangs Gear Up for Two-Game Road Stretch

HOBBS, N.M. -- The University of the Southwest women's soccer team is back on the road this week for pair of Red River Athletic Conference matchups, beginning with North American University on Thursday and wrapping up with Texas A&M University-Victoria on Saturday.

The Mustangs head into the trip after marking their first victory of the season over Louisiana Christian (1-0) and a hard-fought battle against LSU-Shreveport that ended in a 5-1 defeat. Southwest now holds a 1-9-0 overall record and sits at 1-3-0 in conference play.

North American University, Thursday's opponent, is still searching for its first win of the season, coming off a 5-1 loss to Jarvis Christian. The Stallions are 0-11-0 overall and 0-5-0 in RRAC competition. On Saturday, the Mustangs will face a challenge in Texas A&M-Victoria, who recently earned a 6-2 win over Jarvis Christian and drew 1-1 with Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Jaguars currently stand at 5-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

Historically, Southwest has had the upper hand against North American, but has struggled to replicate its success against Texas A&M-Victoria.

After this road swing, the Mustangs return to Hobbs for a four-match home stand, kicking off Thursday, October 16, against Our Lady of the Lake. First touch is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
