HOBBS, NM---Prior to the Lady Mustangs conference championship victory on Saturday evening, the RRAC awarded their 2019 All-Conference Teams that are voted on by the conference's Head Coaches. The Lady Mustangs had 6 student-athletes including Priscilla Garcia winning the award for the best Offensive Player in the conference. Garcia was also named to the 1st Team All-Conference as well. Joining her on the 1st Team was midfielder Kimberly Nevarez, midfielder Karla Parra and defender Marissa Munoz. USW also had 2 win 2nd Team All-Conference nominations in goalkeeper Andrea Martinez and midfielder Naomi Morales. 

"I am extremely proud of the girls who received awards. As a coach, these are the moments that you coach for. I wasn't surprised at all on the girls who earned them; stats and hard work speak for themselves. It was a very humbling experience, especially when we had most girls throughout the conference who received first team All-Conference. It takes a total team effort, because without the team, none of these awards would of happened." said Head Coach D'Angelo Garcia. 

Junior Priscilla Garcia continued her offensive dominance of the conference this year. The El Paso native scored 10 goals in conference and assisted on 7 others. She totaled 27 points which was 1/3rd of the team's total points. She took a remarkable 24 shots on goal in just 7 games of conference play. She averaged 3.86 points per game in conference which was 1.7 points more than the next player giving her the season lead. She also was the conference leader in: Goals per game (1.43), Goals (10), assists (7), shots on goal per game (3.43), shots per game (5.86). "This award is well deserved. She had a tremendous season. To lead stats in just about every category offensively all season long, isn't very easy. She pulled through for us all season long by contributing what she does best, scoring goals. Her hard work, desire, and passion for the game is like no other. Players like Priscilla who watch and study the game know that player development never stops. She is constantly wanting to get better on the field so she can contribute to the best she can for the team. She's definitely a huge piece for our program and I also wouldn't be surprised if she played at the next level." commented Coach Garcia on his star forward and OPOTY.

Sophomore Kimberly Nevarez really came into her own during conference play as she netted 8 goals in conference play and assisted on 1. She tallied 17 points in total. She was also tied for the team lead with 2 game winning goals. 

Senior Karla Parra had been a mainstay in Lady Mustang soccer the past 3 years since she arrived. This season she brought a veteran presence to the midfield. Parra scored 4 goals in 9 games of conference. She had 12 shots on goal and scored 2 game winning goals along the way. 

Junior defender Marissa Munoz was the rock for the back line of the Lady Mustangs. Munoz was responsible for multiple shutouts and came up with huge stops throughout the season. She was crucial in development of freshman goalkeeper Andrea Martinez. 

Senior Naomi Morales appeared 9 matches during conference play and scored 3 goals and assisted on 2 during those games. The El Paso native had 19 shots and 8 on net. 

Freshman goalkeeper Andrea Martinez started every game in net for the Lady Mustangs and grew up before our eyes. The Hobbs native allowed just 3 goals all conference long and recorded 6 shutouts in the season. The freshman never allowed more than 1 goal in any regular season conference game. 

Junior Lauren Zarate was awarded to the Champions of Character Team for the conference. This award is given to the student-athlete who exemplifies the Champions of Character characteristics instituted by the NAIA.
