VICTORIA, TX--- The Mustang Golf program took to the road for their 2nd tournament of the fall season as they competed in the 2019 UH-Victoria Fall Classic at The Club at Colony Creek. The Men's tournament featured 7 schools: Houston-Victoria, Blinn CC, OLLU, Tyler Junior College, St. Thomas (TX) and Jacksonville CC. While the Women's Tournament featured players from: Tyler Junior College, St. Thomas (TX), Houston-Victoria, Blinn CC, and Jacksonville CC. The tournament was shortened to 1 round of 18 holes due to inclement weather that made the course unplayable.
The Mustang Men placed 6th in the team competition with Tanner Dodd leading the Mustang charge by shooting a 71 (E). The Lady Mustangs were led by freshman Jenna Sand who shot an 85 which was good for T14 place.
MEN
NMJC transfer Tanner Dodd was the leading Mustang for the lone round of the tournament shooting a 71 which was good for 7th place on the weekend. Justin Pasitney was 1 shot behind Dodd, shooting a 72 on the afternoon. Aaron Robledo was the next Mustang on the scoreboard shooting a 74 (+3). Juan Narvaez (79), Parker Sanders (82) and Robert Gallegos (86) rounded out the rest of the Mustang golfers which brought their team score to a 313 which was good for 6th place on the afternoon.
"The guys started out well with three of them having a solid first round. Our two anchor men struggled to find their swing and with needing to take four scores we took bit of a hit. Before the second round, both guys that struggled the day before good range sessions after a few adjustments. Through 11 holes the team was even par so it was disappointing to get rained out. The men are playing again October 21 & 22 so we have some time to work on first round preparations and were we need to be mentally before teeing off. I know they will respond and come out strong." said Head Coach Steve Landry
WOMEN
The Women saw vast improvement from their opening tournament a week ago. True freshman
Jenna Sand shot a team low 85 (+13) putting her in 14th place on the day.
Sydni Hill shot a 92 (+20) and freshman Karisa Rainers shot a 97 (+25).

Karisa Raines performed well after both feeling disappointed after the first tournament of the season. Just two years ago it was hard for me as a player to find my footing in my first few events as a collegiate player so I understand the nerves and jitters. They continue to grow and will get better with each tournament round.
Sydni Hill had another solid showing. She also continues to improve and will continues to get better" said Coach Landry of the improvement from his ladies.
