SAN ANTONIO, TX---The University of the Southwest Men's Golf program competed in their first tournament of 2021 this week. USW traveled to San Antonio, TX to compete in the NAIA San Antonio Shoot Out at TPC San Antonio. The Mustangs entered 3 golfers into the tournament:
Boyd Kapalamoto, Justin Pastiney and
Aaron Robledo.
"The weather was perfect" said Head Coach
Steve Landry. "Something that hasn't happened in the previous three years. Though the players were excited to play the 3rd hardest course on the PGA Tour, they knew it was going to be a challenge. The lack of competitive play for a year definitely showed as the most simplest of shots became a challenge. Practice leading up to the tournament was good and everyone was swinging it well but practice is not competition. The focus on the upcoming weeks is putting, chipping, short irons."
Boyd Kapalamoto shot a 3-round score of 242, putting him T-20 in the tournament.
Justin Pasitney shot 245 over three rounds, putting him T-23 overall. Aaron Robeldo finished shooting 249 which was good for T-28 in the tournament.
The Mustangs are back in action March 2-3 in the Tanklogix Green Tree Intercollegiate in Midland, TX
