TEXARKANA, TX---The Lady Mustang Women's Soccer program had their season ended on Thursday morning at the hands of conference rival OLLU. The Lady Saints scored a penalty kick in double-overtime to eliminate USW in the RRAC Tournament semi-final 1-0.
"It's always a fun competitive battle with our rivals OLLU" said Head Coach
D'Angelo Garcia. "We started a bit flat footed. Once the nerves settled in, we started playing Southwest soccer. I thought possession was fairly equal throughout the entire game and both teams had their opportunities to score. Going into double OT, we knew we either had to find the net early or settle for PK's. It's a sour feeling to know that the game ended how it did, especially knowing our girls gave it their all."
The Lady Mustangs finished the season 7-5 and 4-3 in conference play. "Not many teams can compare to what and how we completed this spring season. We are extremely grateful for everything that was done with the help of our administration. However, it was a mentally challenging season. Finishing with a 4-3 conference record and playing top 4 in the conference is a huge accomplishment. Unfortunately things didn't go as planned but we definitely proved ourselves once again that we belong with the top teams in the conference and I know next year we will be back. I am proud of our 4 seniors. Their presence will truly be missed because they each played an important role on this team. In as little as 3 months, we will be back on the pitch and hopefully end up back in the Final Four."
