Your Lady Mustangs were also in action on Monday, Sep. 9th and Tuesday, Sep. 10th at the Texas Intercollegiate at Hawks Creek Golf Club hosted by Texas Wesleyan. Lady Mustangs played 36 holes on Monday and were led by Freshman Sophia Vidal and Junior Lucy Garza with a pair of 88's. They were followed by Freshman Stephanie Smith with a round of 96 and Freshman Bailey Jerrett with round of 97 and Sophomore Kylie Bradford with round of 107. They would finish with a team score of 369 which was a great improvement from last years first round. They would continue that improvement into round 2. Garza would improve by 1 stroke to led them ladies with a 87. Garza was followed by Vidal's second consecutive round of 88, Jarrett's round of 90. Sophomore Kylie Bradford would improve on the second round by 8 shots to fire a 96 to help the teams as Freshman Stephanie Smith would have a little trouble in round 2 ending with a 109. The Lady Mustangs would improve on round 2 by 8 shots to fire a team total of 261.
Day 2 would prove to be a struggle for some and seem easier for others. The second day, the Lady Mustangs were led by Freshman Vidal with her college low of 80. Vidal would be followed by a pair of 93 from Sophomore Garza as she had a little bit of a struggle in the middle of her round but was able to find her form and battle the rest of the way home and Freshman Smith as she would do the same throughout her round. Garza and Smith were followed by Freshman Jarrett as she starting to battle her way back to finish with a 96 and Sophomore Bradford would do whatever she could not let her round get away from her as she closed with a 101. The lady Mustangs would stumble a little as they finished the last round of the tournament with a team score of 362.
'I could not be happier with the improvement in this tournament compared to last years outing. The Lady Mustangs were able to improve a total of 40+ strokes. That is what I like to see is us to continue to get better and beat our previous scores. The ladies could have easily given up during the rounds but they found the will to fight and battle through it and that's what we need to do in golf. They are still showing some great strides and the want to get better and correct the little things that are giving them troubles. It will be a great for them and excited to see the progress we will continue to make.' said head coach RJ Lester.
Lady Mustangs will be back in action after a lengthy layoff on Oct. 13th-14th at Plainview Country Club in Plainview, TX at the Chicken Express hosted by Wayland Baptist.
